Get to know Northside.
On Easter Sunday in 1969, Pastor Tony Minnick held the first service of "Revival Temple" Assemblies of God in the American Legion Hall on Airways Blvd. in Jackson. Shortly thereafter, the Northside Lions Club became the home of Revival Temple. Two acres of land were purchased on North Highland and on Thanksgiving weekend 1969, the foundation was poured for this new eight sided building. The first services were held in that new building in January 1970 with concrete floors and folding chairs. During the summer of 1973, the name of the church was changed to Northside Assembly of God.
In the late 1970's, Central Assemblies of God and Pastor Elizabeth Walters joined their congregation with Northside. In December of 1980, Linus and Karen Vaughn became the pastors of Northside. Under their direction, the church built the "dome" building in 1982. This allowed Northside to expand it's ministries to children for the fist time.
In the summer of 1993, Pastor Randy and Nancee Carter took the role of senior pastor of Northside. After growing to a point of running out of space, Northside was blessed to be able to purchase almost 30 acres of land on the corner of Oil Well Rd. and Old Humboldt and built what is now the home of Northside Assembly. Northside quickly became known as a missional focused church, both locally and globally. Pastor Carter served as pastor of Northside for 26 faithful years.
In October of 2019, Dr. JP and Christie Vick were named senior pastors at Northside. Under Dr. Vick, Northside was able to update and renovate much of it's current space. These updates have equipped Northside with a high-tech, youth and kid friendly space that is being used every day of the week. Northside now has a Parent's Day Out program that runs two days per week and is in process of becoming a fully licensed daycare facility. In the summer of '24 Northside began a parternship with the Boys and Girls Club of Jackson and is now a full-time boys and girls club site, year round.
We can't wait to see what else God has in store for Northside!
